Over his career Paul has been at the forefront of transactional work, both as a corporate finance adviser and a banker. The combination of over 25 years in both lead advisory, due diligence and banking roles has provided Paul with a breadth of experience to draw upon when advising clients and facilitating negotiations in a wide range of sectors.
Paul spent the first ten years working for national accountancy firms, including 7 years at a Big 4 firm in Bristol and Exeter. During his time in Bristol he advised on both buy-side transactions, including MBO’s and acquisitions together with sell-side mandates. Paul then spent ten years in the banking industry with HSBC, based in Bristol covering the South West in leadership roles in both corporate banking and leverage and acquisition finance.
Since joining PKF Francis Clark as a partner in 2015, and returning to the accountancy profession, Paul has utilised his combined corporate finance and banking experience to provide advice to business owners and management teams to gain the necessary funding to achieve their business interests and goals. At PKF Francis Clark Paul has led a number of the major transactions in the South West including the MBO Kandy Toys and the recent sales of Snows Timber, UKRD and Chartman. Paul has a particular passion for companies that are owner managed and supporting them through challenging times. His commitment to getting the best for clients has meant that he is held in high regard for his approach to deal making.
Like many former rugby players, Paul now spends his spare time trying to keep fit cycling. Paul is married with two sons.
